Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been working as Researcher for Renegade Pictures on Mike Christie’s latest exciting project: Concrete Circus (working title).
Due for broadcast on prime time Channel 4 in August, our documentary looks at the creation of four short films featuring four different urban sports: freerunning, flatland BMX, urban trials riding, and skateboarding. Starring in each short film are some of each sport’s foremost practitioners; Paul ‘Blue Devil’ Joseph, Mathieu Ledoux and Phil Doyle appear in the freerunning film; Keelan Phillips is our flatland BMXer; Danny MacAskill is the only choice for the urban trials riding film; and our skateboarder is the phenomenon that is Kilian Martin.
Each film is being made by an up-and-coming film-maker who has already carved out a reputation on the internet but has not achieved mainstream exposure.

After the phenomenon that was Storm Freerun Volume 1, Claudiu Voicu is directing the freerunning short film and I’ve been helping out with his shoot days. Also involved was Mathieu Ledoux who I saw in this short film a few years ago but now works around the world as a stuntman. A few years ago, whilst working at the Cirque du Soleil, he met with the Yamakasi and found a common bond. Since then he has created a unique blend of parkour with rollerblading, and last Friday produced movement that I found a little incomprehensible.

Some rather exciting action shots to appear here in due course…
So much to tell but for now, check out the following links for more info:
