I’ve had the privilege of working with Johnny Dawes on a couple of occasions in the past and he’s always an interesting guy to chat with. With his autobiography, Full of Myself, due out in September, there’s a great interview in the latest issue of Summit magazine. A few quotes:

“When I was a child, I wasn’t into climbing things. I just loved to balance.”

“There was no philosophy to it. It was just riding down the road having exercised my whole body. The dog had been walked.”

“I had to understand it before I could climb it.”

“It’s when you’re totally immersed in your own realm that you forget everything else. It’s when you forget yourself that you realise not so much who you are, but what you are.”
